I started by drilling out the reinforcement plates and installing them on the correct side (outer) of the spar.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1198\" src=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_5435-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5435\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_5435-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_5435-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I had to machine countersink the nut plates holes in the trim reinforcement plate. Usually sheet metal of this thickness should be dimpled, but the nut plates do not allow for dimpling. Due to the blocks being located too far inboard (and being a little aggressive with the rivet gun) I pretty much ruined the tabs.
