I just used tape to mask the surfaces that don&#8217;t require primer.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/thumb_IMG_0741_1024.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2608\" src=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/thumb_IMG_0741_1024-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"thumb_IMG_0741_1024\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/thumb_IMG_0741_1024.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/thumb_IMG_0741_1024-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here are the post-primed surfaces.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/thumb_IMG_0742_1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2609\" src=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/thumb_IMG_0742_1024-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"thumb_IMG_0742_1024\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/thumb_IMG_0742_1024.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/thumb_IMG_0742_1024-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Other builders have added a\u00a0spacer to the tie down eyebolt. The spacer allows the eyebolt to be torque down,\u00a0rather than just hang in the threads. The hole in the leading edge skin had to be opened up the .75 inches to fit a delrin spacer. I clamped a block of wood behind the hole and used a large unibit to create the hole.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0747.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2600\" src=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0747-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0747\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0747-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0747-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After I replaced a few rivets on the leading edge, I got ready to permanently install the assembly to the spar. I fit up the tank and the leading edge to make sure everything was looking good.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0750.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2601\" src=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0750-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0750\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0750-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0750-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I used ratchet straps to make sure everything was pulled tightly against the spar. I took my time lining up the holes along the top and bottom flanges.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0753.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2602\" src=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0753-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0753\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0753-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0753-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first thing you do is rivet the ribs to the spar. There&#8217;s minimal clearance to get the pop rivet tool close to the ribs so I had to\u00a0grind off some material from my tool.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2604\" src=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0764-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0764\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0764-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0764-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Riveting the ribs was pretty tedious. By the end of the day, I got 3 of the 6 ribs riveted.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0761.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2603\" src=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0761-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0761\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0761-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/rv7aircraftlog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/IMG_0761-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In some places, I scuffed up the ribs a little bit.
