I really wanted to get a big bite out of the canopy frame today, so I ended up getting a pretty solid day at the hangar. It’s worth noting I haven’t had a really focused session like this in awhile.<\/p>\n

The first thing I did was match drill the canopy mounting brackets to the fuselage. The holes were drilled with an angle drill and a stubby #40 drill bit while the canopy was installed. The picture below shows the holes drilled to the final size with temp bolts.

The outer mounting brackets need to be shaped to match the OML of the fuselage. I used a grinder to shape one of the brackets. I’ll hit the other one next time I work on the plane.

This whole structure is getting super close to being done. The main open item is match drilling the skin to the brackets\/frame and opening up the holes to the final sizes.
