I’m on the path to finishing up the canopy frame, which means there’s a large number of small tasks that need to be wrapped up. I really want to get this thing primed within the next week.<\/p>\n

I purchased a variety of spacers from McMaster-Carr to fill the gaps between the canopy frame and the top skin. The spacers had to be countersunk to interface with the dimples in the top skin. To hold the spacers, I used VHB tape. This worked out fine. The tape didn’t do an amazing job holding the spacer, but it was good enough.

I added these 4 holes, which will go through all layers of the canopy frame. This is not part of the plans, but it looks like more support of the top skin is needed in this area. Honestly, this portion of the kit is generally pretty sloppy, particularly where the holes are located on the skin and the frame. You really need to double check everything to avoid drilling holes that are too close together.

The last thing I did was countersink the side walls of the frame. I always like double semi-mindless jobs like this.
