I got the day started by finishing up a few rivets on the firewall. I’m glad that part’s behind me.
The next thing in the plans is the center section. The parts are gold anodized and come sealed in a bag.
I used my unibit to cut the holes for the snap rings. Some portions of the parts don’t have pre-drilled holes, so I had to take my time marking the hole locations.
Here’s the snap ring holes after drilling.
I reamed the holes that joint the center section to the side brackets. I should have used the large bolts to align the parts. Instead, I used the smaller bolts, which are less precise.
Vans doesn’t really give you any guidance in regards to the location of the rivet holes on the shear blocks. I just measured .400 from either edge and drilled the holes.
I countersink the holes drilled in the shear blocks. You have to be super careful to countersink the correct side.
