I wanted to get the left lower longeron drilled to the firewall bracket today. Based on my research, it looks like other builders have had issues getting the appropriate edge distance on the bracket. To ensure I was maintaining the correct edge distance, I marked the minimum distance on the bracket.

I predrilled the lower longeron holes to #40. This allowed me to look through the hole and ensure I was not violating the bracket edge distance requirement. I drilled the 4 holes to the nearly final size. I’ll ream the holes to the final size after I get a #11 reamer on order.

In the F-902 bulkheads, I drilled the rudder I drilled the rudder cable holes. On the F-902R, I got some unwanted motion in the bulkhead while drilling, which lead to a slightly oversized hole. Since I’ve put almost no work into that part, I’ll just order a new one from Vans. Next time I go in, I have to scallop the flange that is inline with the rudder cable hole. The flange that needs to be scalloped is facing away from the camera in the image below.
