I’ll be leaving for Sacramento for the weekend, so this is the last time I’ll touch the project for awhile. I got the armrests in from Classic Aero a few days ago, which allows me to finish up the armrest fabrication. The image below shows how I got the work session started. The left part is the drill template, while the right part is the actual armrest. For some annoying reason, the template and the actual part don’t match! What the hell! I have no idea why the tool the the part are not in alignment, but it means I have 2 extra holes in each armrest and it means I have to drill new holes for the actual stud locations.
After cutting the new holes in the armrest, I had to cut the corresponding areas in the armrest stiffener. I’ve sized the stiffener scallops for #6 fender washers. The fender washes are being used because I had to oversize the holes in the armrests.
The last thing I got done was priming of the armrests and stiffeners. I’ve been alternating between the SEM primer and the NAPA 7220 primer. Although the SEM cost ~3X more than the 7220, it’s so much easier to apply to the parts. Since it’s just a better product overall, I’m going to go with the SEM for all future interior priming jobs.
