SpaceX had a successful In-Flight Abort test of the Dragon 2 capsule on January 19, 2020. This was probably the most sophisticated test ever conducted in aerospace and I’m really proud that I had hardware on this vehicle. Next up is the big one–Demo 2!
I spend the day getting all the flap housing hardware match drilled to the fuselage. The first thing I did was get the F-785B Attach Angle match drilled to the baggage floor area.
The F-785A Backrest Brace was centered with the holes in the F-705 assembly and match drilled.
Once the Backrest Brace was locked in place, I could assemble the remained of the flap housing and get everything match drilled. Fitting up everything and ensuring things are in alignment before drilling is definitely the hard part. Now I just need to do a bunch of cleanup work and riveting on the housing.
