I got a little helper today! Taking care of Lucy for the day was the best.

I got the day started by re-installing the eyebolt in the right wing. I few day earlier, I used the SpaceX mill to shave down the delrin spacer to the appropriate thickness (.220 inches). Vans does not tell you to add the spacer, but it makes the installation of the eye bolt much more secure.

Here’s the installed tie-down bar. The fasteners were torqued to 30 in-lbs.

I installed the aileron brackets. It looks like these will need to be removed down to the line when the bellcrank gets installed so I’m going to wait on torque striping.

I had put a few shallow scratches in the surface of the spar when I was back riveting the nut plates. I used sandpaper to blend out the scratches. I went a little overboard with the sanding, but I was able to remove all visible surface imperfections.

I used my new spray gun to prime the left wing skins. This new gun is so awesome. I had previously used the Harbor Freight gun, which was a piece of garbage.

While I was priming the skins, I also primed the sanded surface of the spar.

The last thing I did was countersink some of the holes in the left spar. Every little bit helps.

I’m feeling the same way. It was a long, but productive day!
