For the last few months I have been working on the aft fuselage and the center fuselage subassemblies. Since I’ve close to joining those pieces together, it’s time to actually start working on the longerons.

After measuring and re-measuing the required length of the angle aluminum, I made the rough cut with my new Dremel. I cleaned up the edges with a file and sandpaper.

The next step is to cut a portion off the aft end of the longeron. This is a pretty simple task–you just need to make sure you double check everything because you only get one shot on these long pieces.

To remove the required material, I used to aft deck as a guide to mark the material in the correct locations. I then drilled a hole that was tangent to the 2 lines.

I used a Dremel to make the 2 cuts. This feature cleaned up quite nicely.
