Instead of following the plans and messing with the fit of the firewall, I decided to work on a side project. I spent the session fabricating the F-713 parts.
Here’s the final product. I removed the material by rough cutting the material with a cutting wheel on my Dremel. The remaining material was removed with sanding disks and sandpaper.
Last time I was in the hanger, I wasn’t able to get the fit of the firewall quite right because the right longeron was slightly interfering with the firewall angle. I pulled the structure apart so I could remove .050 inches of material off the front of the longeron.
I took this picture through the hole in the firewall because I thought it gave a good sense of the fuselage detail.
