To control the angle in the seat, Vans has a simple method of using multiple hinges located on the seat bottom to move the seat bottom. You simply select which bottom hinge you want to connect with the seatback by removing the hinge pins.

I cut the hinges to length and cut away the middle hinge sections. The open area in the center allows the hinge pins to be easily removed and reinstalled. I only worked on the pilot side hinges today.

I drilled the holes in one hinge and used that as a guide for the other hinges.

The locations of the hinges are controlled just by measuring and marking off the locations on the seat bottom. After double checking everything, I drilled the hinges to the seat bottom. I’ll drill the passenger’s seat hinges another time.
