I really wanted to get a big bite out of the canopy frame today, so I ended up getting a pretty solid day at the hangar. It’s worth noting I haven’t had a really focused session like this in awhile.

The first thing I did was match drill the canopy mounting brackets to the fuselage. The holes were drilled with an angle drill and a stubby #40 drill bit while the canopy was installed. The picture below shows the holes drilled to the final size with temp bolts.

I drilled the inner holes to #40 using my angle drill.

The outer mounting brackets need to be shaped to match the OML of the fuselage. I used a grinder to shape one of the brackets. I’ll hit the other one next time I work on the plane.

This whole structure is getting super close to being done. The main open item is match drilling the skin to the brackets/frame and opening up the holes to the final sizes.
