I brought in the C-710 tube into work to drill and tap the ends of the tube. This is my second attempt at drilling the this tube. I messed up the concentricity of the tap drilling a few weeks back.
First, I cut the tube to the approximate length and squared up the cut end by sanding the end on the drill press. To nail the concentricity of the tap drill as best as possible, I clamped a thick piece of wood to the drill press and drilled a hole through the wood to the OD of the tube. With the tube squeezed into the hole in the plate, everything was locked in place. This gave me good alignment with the centerline of the tube. I used the drill press to nail the tap drill size on both ends of the tube. The tube was tapped by hand.
