This was a big day for the project. With some assistance from Chris and Lucien, the fuselage has been moved out of the half hangar. I’ve been in this location for nearly a decade, so this move is a big deal. Pretty much every person that has seen the project has asked how I was going to get the fuselage out of the half-hangar. Ultimately, it was a pretty simple effort.

We had to remove 2 panels from the outside of the hangar. This involved just detorquing about 20-30 sheet metal screws.

The strategy we used to get the fuselage through the hangar was creating a bridge using a plywood board and sawhorses. The fuselage was rolled through the gap in the wall using a moving dolly.

This actually worked really well. We “threaded the needle” in a very controlled manner.

For the first time ever, the fuselage sees the flight of day.

We rolled the fuselage to the new full size hangar.

The fuselage is on some temporary saw horses. I’ll move it to the appropriate sawhorses next week.

Overall, this entire operation took about 2 hours. This has been a major looming task, but it ended up being very easy.
