Today was the first real day working on the fuel tank. I started off the tanks by drilling the Z-brackets.
I used a smaller drill bit to locate the holes for the .125 and #12 bits.
Both flanges drilled. The #12 was drilled to the final size with a reamer.
After demurring the edges and holes, the Z-bracket was clamped to the underside of the spar. This allowed the outer 2 holes to be match drilled.
All brackets have been match drilled. I messed up the drilling on one of the brackets. I’ll have to request a new part from Vans. In the meantime, I took one of the brackets from the right wing.
I match drilled the nut plates to 3 of the 6 brackets. I’ll do the other 3 tomorrow.
