I continued making the big bend on the longerons today. I used the canopy deck piece as a guide for most of the bend, but there’s a portion of the bend that needs to be compared against the paper template. After doing to bend-and-check method for awhile, I got the longeron to align with the template almost perfectly. In the image below, you can’t actually see the template because the longeron is covering it.
After the right longeron was considered acceptable, I used it as a bending guide for the left longeron. The picture shows how close the 2 parts are to each other.
The canopy deck was drilled to the longeron. The outer edge of the deck is supposed to overhang the outside of the longeron by .032 inch. To accomplish this, I used some of the wing trim material as a spacer. After double checking everything, I drilled away. This was a nice change from using the rubber mallet all day.
