I started the day by doing some much-needed cleaning around the hangar. My big airplane task was to seal up the right tank. I sealed the access port directly against the inboard rib. I skipped the installation of the cork gasket supplied by Van’s.
As many other builders have done, I replaced the Van’s phillips head screws with socket heads. This will make disassembly much easier if it’s ever required.
I gooped up the area around the fuel level sensor hole and installed the sensor. It took some real dexterity to get that sensor through the hole without contacting the sealant.
Here’s the final product. Before I torqued each fastener, I applied a bead of Pro-Seal under each screw head.
Looking good!
