I worked on getting the right vent tube installed in the fuselage. Vans supplies a coil of 3000 series aluminum tubing, which I don’t think is a great solution due to its low strength. I wanted to go with 6061-T6 tubing because it’s delivered as a straight tube and it’s far stronger and stiffer. The only issue with the 6061 tubing is that it’s so much harder to route and you can’t really massage it into the desired shape by hand.
I was able to route the forward section of the tubing with 6061 after a couple of attempts. I think it turned out pretty good. I attempted to use 6061 throughout the entire tube length, but I was unable to achieve the required bend geometry around the rudder cable. For this section I went with 3000 series.
You can see the tube geometry in this area is a bit sloppy, which is characteristic of the 3000 series aluminum.
